This research was undertaken to investigate the in vitro antibacterial properties of aqueous Hibiscus sabdariffa leaf extract against some selected reference bacterial strains. The initial disc diameter 5mm. Zones inhibition produced by Hisbiscus ranged from 1mm at 500mg/ml 13mm 1000mg/ml. No zone however 62.5 250mg/ml L. MonocytogenesATCC7644, S. typhimuriumATCC14028, flexneri ATCC120233 and Proteus vulgaris ATCC10315respectively. minimum inhibitory concentration H. Sabdariffa observed be Monocytogenes Scott A, ATCC10315while it 750mg/ml monocytogenes ATCC7644, E. coli ATCC29214, aureus ATCC29213, B. cereus ATCC145719.The shows that has potential invitro activity isolates supports claims its medicinal value
